The KJV and the NIV were subject to the Flesch-Kincaid grade level formula. As it turned out the KJV was considered 5th grade reading level and the NIV was at the 8th grade reading level. The KJV enhances memorization because it uses fewer syllables, and utilize rhyme and rhythm.I believe the word usage in the NIV, NASB, and RSV etc. are substandard.. Reflecting back on my childhood I memorized Bible verses and studied the Bible using the KJV. Yes, it was not easy, but it raised the level of my biblical education. I learned vocabulary words such as supplication, propitiation, predestination and sanctification etc. These are powerful words that minister to the Soul. These words are virtually gone from these new Bible versions. The more I study the King James Bible the easier it becomes. I believe the church today is dumbing down their congregation's.
Proverbs 2:1 My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; 2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; 3 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; 4 If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; 5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. 7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. 8 He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
